The Gourmet Boerie is officially (and has been for a couple of weeks now) open for your juicy meaty boerewors needs.
This boerie team can cater a shindig.
As head chef and part owner Kate Marek slams out tiny boerie roll after tiny boerie roll, the crowd rolls into the corner restaurant on Kloof. It begins to pump, people tap elbows, and the barman pours the cold brew on a beautiful breezy Cape Town night.
And then, these come strolling past:
And these, shroom city with the Shroom Sauce boerie:
Marek is into it, each boerie bite with a drizzle of this or a sprinkle of some fresh herb. She commands her team with seriousness and doesn’t look up for the crowd. It’s something like, she must actually care about what we’re eating and there’s something to be dug about someone who runs an event well. Marek cares about her craft.
The night continues with speeches and music, chitter-chatter, and swift movements towards plates of attractive soft buns filled with ostrich, chicken, classic, lamb, and veggie balls: The big five of boeries.
Crafted with careful precision, each and every boerie bite.
Gourmet Boerie serves local South African beer making all efforts to keep GB local loving.
Gourmet boerie love beginnings? A picture’s worth a thousand made up words right? Musta been that spicy “Mexicano.”
A little debate about which one was the best (trick question, they all were).
Marek is thanked as part of the Gourmet Boerie team with no shortage of the branding, sleek and clever.
And then, these:
Beautifully baked mini tarts and crumbles, hundreds of them included with a complete sensory overload of smells, sites, and tastes.
It took every ounce of self-restraint to keep these little bites out of my pockets, handbag, and underwear, anywhere really. And, personally, it did physically hurt me when the waiters brought trays of milk tarts, creamy, sexy, smooth, back to the kitchen as if people had had enough. How dare the masses eat only a single serving of dessert.
A sense of humour is always appreciated in the toilet.
Dig the Boerie vibes and they will franchise soon, so get in there at the flagship before it goes viral (in a good way let’s hope).
Tuesday – Saturday: 11:00 – 22:30
